The process for visa or Student Pass is facilitated by the University/Institute which the student decides to join. The documents normally required for Student Pass include:

Acceptance letter from the college
Birth certificate or notarized affidavit for the date of birth

Q-1: What are the housing options available?

Below is a guide on types of accommodation available to international students:

University Halls of Residence: Universities have halls with single and double occupancy rooms either semi furnished or fully furnished which house between 500-700 students.
Private Hostels: Semi or fully furnished rooms managed by professional staff.
Q-2: What are the living expenses?

Generally living expenses depend upon the number of factors like life style of student, accommodation preference, personal expenses and eating habits. On an average the student may spend S$ 16800-S$ 33840 per year.

Q-3: Can I work while am studying?

Students enrolled in public universities can work part time upto 16 hrs per week during term and full day during vacations. However, private universities do not allow part time work.

Q-4: Are Scholarships available?

Most universities offer very good scholarship opportunities to students. Many students get 100% scholarship which means a complete tuition fee waiver. The scholarships are given on merit basis. One has to check the updated status on scholarships with the institutes at the time of applying.

Q-5: What is tuition grant?

Tuition grant is a fee subsidy granted to meritorious students. Students who apply for and are approved for the tuition grants need only pay subsidised fees. All international students will be required to undertake a service bond under the terms of the tuition grant to work for a Singapore-registered company for three years upon completion of their degrees

Polytechnics in Singapore provide three-year diploma courses and accept students based on their grade 12 results.
